Coursera was founded in 2012 by two Stanford Computer Science professors who wanted to share their knowledge and skills with the world. Professors Daphne Koller and Andrew Ng put their courses online for anyone to take – and taught more learners in a few months than they could have in an entire lifetime in the classroom.
The courses on Coursera are taught by top instructors from universities and educational institutions around the world. The courses include recorded video lectures, assignments and community forums. When you complete a course, you will receive a sharable electronic certificate. The courses are open to everyone.
You can learn a new skill in 4 – 6 weeks and the courses are priced at about $29 – $99. They have 25 Million learners, 149 university partners, 2,000+ courses, 180+ specializations and 4 degrees.
