This is my first blog post since the revamp of Avatar Brands!
It’s also the first of many to follow, I’m creating a series of blog posts on “The Complete Guide To Digital Marketing”.
I’m not sure how many blog posts I’d need to write to cover it…
…but by the end of this entire series you will be able to:
- Grow your own business from scratch.
- Grow an existing business.
- Generate traffic, leads, and sales for any business.
- Work as a freelance internet marketer.
- Be an independent affiliate marketer.
Digital marketing is an incredibly powerful way to grow your business.
But if you’re just getting started, it can be very overwhelming, with all the different strategies, tactics and traffic channels.
So in this first post, I am going to map out the entire overview, and also clarify any uncertainty that you may have.

Digital Marketing Is Made Up Of 5 Simple Steps:
Step One: Define Your Target Audience
Here are some questions you can ask yourself to determine your target audience:
Where do they hang out online?
How old are they?
What is their gender?
What is their marital status?
Where do they come from?
What are their interests?
What are the problems they have?
How is your solution going make a difference in their lives?
It is very important to determine your target audience, as it will help you prepare content for them and help you create proper marketing messages across your online platforms.
Step Two: Create Free Valuable Content
When you define your target audience, you will know what content to create for them.
Once you have prepared it, you can then share the content on the platforms where your audience spends most of their time online.
This could be Facebook, Google, YouTube, Twitter, Pinterest, Instagram, LinkedIn etc.
Now, there are 3 types of content that you can create:
1. How-To Educational Content 👨🏫
This could be a how-to article that you write on your website or blog to appear on Google, or it could be an educational how-to video that you post on YouTube.
2. Brand Storytelling Content
This could be customer success stories and testimonials.
3. Entertainment-Educational Content
The last type of content that you can create is content that is both entertaining and educational.
This is a fun way to attract your audience, this practice is commonly seen on YouTube, Pinterest, and Instagram.
After you have defined your audience and provided them with valuable content, the next step is to get sales. But in order to generate sales, you first need to…
Step Three: Build An Email List
Yes, build an email list! The money is in the list, I’m sure you’ve heard that before! 😉
Let’s make a quick example:
Let’s say that you post an article on your blog about ‘how you lost weight on the keto diet’ (free valuable content), you then post a picture on your Instagram profile of your before and after, which you then directly link to the article on your blog.
From Instagram, you drive your audience to your blog to read your article:
At the closing of your article, you give your audience access to the exact keto diet, meal plans, and workout routine in exchange for their email address!
This is how you grow your email list, you provide value for free and then provide more value in exchange for their email address and then you continue giving them value through email marketing.
And only when the opportunity arises you can send them an offer to buy something, perhaps a ‘Keto Cookbook’ (sticking to the example above.)
Wash and repeat this process, focusing on relevancy and value. 👍
Step Four: Generate Sales
Now the sales…
So as I mentioned above, the idea is that once you interact with the audience on these platforms, you then need to direct them to your website or blog, to absorb your great content…
…and then they can sign up to your list. 😀
Once you have this system in place, you can communicate to your list, create a lifelong relationship with them and continue providing them with valuable relevant content.

Step Five: Track and Measure
The final step is to track and measure your data.
This is the only way that you will know what is working and what is not.
For instance, if you see that most of your sales are coming from Pinterest, you will know that you should create more content for that particular platform.
For the sake of this series, I will use Google Analytics for tracking(completely free to use), but we will get into that much later on in this series.
